Battle of the Choirs Offers Something New

The latest music reality TV show offers something different for television junkies. Battle of the Choirs pits choral groups against one another, and it might just be unique enough to be a ratings winner.

For one thing, the diverse judging panel has some serious cred. We’ve got Icehouse singer Iva Davies, ex-Hi 5er Charli Delaney, and Choir of Hard Knocks’ conductor Jonathon Welch.

Charli promises she’s not going to play the typical female fence sitting role we’ve seen so many times before.

“I am not just going to be one of those female judges who sits there with a smile on her face. There will be none of that because that’s just boring. I will say exactly what I think,” she told The Daily Telegraph.

Then there’s the opportunity to hear the sort of music most of us don’t. As a self-confessed reality TV fan I’m definitely looking forward to the change of pace Battle of the Choirs promises.

Battle of the Choirs will air on Channel Seven. There’s no official word on when it starts, but my money’s on it taking over the Tuesday night slot once Australia’s Got Talent wraps up.

Hi, My name is Denise and I sing with Redland Rhapsody Chorus. Can you please tell me how we are able to apply to sing in the Battle of the Choirs? We are an acapella group who sing barbershop style singing. We have a concert coming up on the 19th July if you would like to come along and see and hear us.
I think that we would be an excellent addition to your show. We not only sing but we do choreography as well.
Please inform me as to how we apply.
    Thanking you

Hi Denise - I’ve just noticed ads on TV saying it starts this week so I guess you’ve missed the boat regarding the show. Not sure how they recruited choirs, but I think they’ve got everyone booked now.

Hey Rosa - I’ve done a little research and it seemed some, if not all, of the choirs were contacted directly by Channel Seven. I’m not sure if the show’s going to be back (I’m sure it all depends on the ratings), but if you want to be involved my advice would be to get in touch with the network and go from there.

Hi Jennifer. I’m afraid I’m just a blogger who wrote a story about the show - I’m not affiliated with it in any way. If you’re interested in appearing on the progam I’d say your best bet is to contact Channel Seven directly. Hopefully they could put you in touch with the right people.
