Daniel Johns Produces The Scare’s CD
January 6, 2009 by lkatulka

Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has stepped out from behind the mic to produce The Scare’s new album. The Sydney outfit, who are now based in Birmingham, returned home to complete the record.
“It’s important for everyone to remember that we came back to home soil in order to find our anarchic-blood-and-guts-sonically eccentric dream team with Daniel Johns and Chris Townend in the producer and engineer chairs respectively,” bass guitarist Wade Keighran wrote on the band’s MySpace page.
“We’ve come home twice in fact and made two albums with Australian producers and engineers in great Australian studios with the help of great Australian musicians … you don’t need to go overseas and spend a fortune to get whatever you want, all you need to do is know what you want and do it right. Anywhere.”
Too true! Australian audiences will get a taste of the band’s new material at their upcoming shows at Sydney’s Supper Club on January 20 and the Big Day Out tour.

Daniel Johns Bound for Big Apple

Things look to be heating up between Silverchair’s Daniel Johns and his model girlfriend Louise Van Der Vorst. The sexy twosome has reportedly told friends they’re planning to New York by the end of the year.
As much as the Aussie music industry would hate to lose Daniel, I suppose it all makes sense. Silverchair are still huge in the States, and Louise is starting to build a name for herself on the international modeling scene.
The only question that remains is whether this hot new romance is moving a little too fast! After all, shifting overseas together is a massive deal! I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see on this one.

Last night Daniel Johns became the first person in history to win three APRA Awards in one year.
The Silverchair frontman was named Songwriter of the Year for the number one hit “Straight Lines,” which also won Song of the Year and Most Played Australian Work gongs.
The other awards showed the diversity of Australia’s musical landscape. Melbourne’s Sally Seltmann won the Breakthrough Songwriter title for “1, 2, 3, 4,” the monster song made famous by Feist.
The Rogue Traders took home the Dance Work of the Year award for “In Love Again” while John Butler bagged the Blues and Roots gong for “Good Excuse.” Troy Casser-Daley’s song “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” proved to be somewhat prophetic, as it helped the singer bag the Country Work of the Year title. Jade McCrae proved she’s one of Australia’s brightest stars, taking home the Urban Work of the Year award for “In the Basement.”
Manager extraordinaire Roger Davies was awarded the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music.
Daniel Johns Finds New Model Love
June 10, 2008 by lkatulka

Six months after splitting with ex-wife Natalie Imbruglia, Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has been linked to model Louise Van de Vorst.
The Daily Telegraph says the pair has been inseparable since meeting two weeks ago. They apparently spent the long weekend partying at Hugo’s and Shh in Kings Cross.
20-year-old Louise is one of the hottest new models on the scene. She’s just returned from a six-month stay in Paris where she was named the face of cosmetics brand She Uemura. Ooh la la!
Daniel deserves a little happiness, so hopefully the rumors are true!

Who Names Beautiful Singers

Some of Australia’s hottest musicians are amongst the stars named in this year’s 25 Most Beautiful List. The list compiled by Who Magazine is said to recognise inner and outer beauty (although those who make the cut are always pretty sexy).
Glamourous pop stars Sophie Monk and Delta Goodrem stand alongside Jennifer Hawkins and Miranda Kerr on the front cover, and look every bit as good as the models. Bootylicious Ricki Lee Coulter and scruffy Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns also made the top 25.

Natalie Imbruglia and Daniel Johns Split
January 5, 2008 by lkatulka
After four years of marriage, Natalie Imbruglia and Daniel Johns have called it quits.
According to a joint statement, the pressure of maintaining a long distance relationship and busy careers caused the split.
“While we are very sad that our marriage has ended, we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable, and we remain friends,” they said. “This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly.
“However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us.
“We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together.”
Natalie spends most of her time in London while Daniel is still based in Australia. The pair has called for privacy during this difficult time.

In the late 90s, Natalie Imbruglia made a big impression on the global music scene with her debut album Left of the Middle. You’d be forgiven for thinking the doe-eyed Aussie songstress had given up the music game altogether, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Nat will release her latest album, Glorious, on September 8. The album will feature some of her greatest hits and five new tracks.
But don’t expect these songs to show any of the angst that made her famous. After all, with a solid marriage to Silverchair singer Daniel Johns, Natalie doesn’t have a lot to grizzle about.
“I got bored with being miserable,” she told The Daily Telegraph. “It was time to lighten up. I care less in a good way and it’s the best thing that’s happened for my work.”

After Silverchair’s embarrassing performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, you could be forgiven for thinking the Aussie rock trio has lost their touch.
However, it seems that lead singer Daniel Johns is suffering from a bad case of laryngitis, which has forced the Aussie rock trio to postpone some of their upcoming American shows.
“Daniel caught the common viral infection of the throat earlier this week after flying Sydney/Los Angeles/Toronto/New York/Los Angeles over just four days. It severely impeded his vocal performance on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Tuesday,” according to a band press release.
Fans in Anaheim, San Diego, San Francisco, and Los Angeles will have to wait until November to see the band play. No doubt Daniel Johns and his bandmates will be in full voice by then. See Silverchair’s website for the new dates. At this stage, no other concerts on Silverchair’s U.S. tour will be affected.
Daniel Johns Makes Dopey Joke
July 11, 2007 by lkatulka
Silverchair frontman, Daniel Johns, has been left red-faced after a joke he made on youth radio station Triple J went a bit too far.
During yesterday’s interview, Daniel joked that he smoked marijuana with Bono, former Midnight Oil singer/now politician Peter Garrett, and wife Natalie Imbruglia while listening to the new Silverchair album.
“(Bono) invited me over to the house he was staying at in Sydney and asked if I’d play the demos and it was really one of the most surreal moments of my life,” he said.
“It was me and Natalie and Peter Garrett and Bono laying on Bono’s bed smoking joints listening to the Young Modern demo.”
