Say it isn’t so! My favourite musical lovebirds Lisa Origliasso and Dean Geyer have split up!

Sadly this isn’t a case of the rumor mill dishing up half truths. The celebrity glamour couple, who became engaged in April, issued a statement to confirm the news. It reads:

“Our careers demand we be in different parts of the world now and in the future, and the pressures associated with this have forced us to make this very difficult decision. We remain committed and caring friends, with love, admiration and support for one another. We would appreciate respect for our privacy at this time.”

They seemed so happy together. Sad news indeed!

It’s no secret that devout Christian Dean Geyer has been saving himself until marriage. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one thinking about what he’ll get up to on the night of his wedding to Veronicas’ hottie Lisa Origliasso!

But Lisa insists she’s not getting married just to get busy!

“We’re not rushing down the aisle - once people find out that we’re not getting married next week, just so whatever we want to happen can happen, they’ll realise we’re happy with this stage,” she told OK! magazine.

“It wasn’t a big deal for me [to wait], I love him for him.”

Awww that’s so sweet!

I can almost hear the hearts of teenage girls around the country breaking. Dean Geyer has announced his engagement to one half of the Veronicas, Lisa Origliasso. The pair released a joint statement today.

“Dean Geyer and Lisa Origliasso, together with their families, are delighted to announce they are engaged,” the statement said.

“The couple have been together since April 2007 and are thrilled to share their news.”

The pair met at the 2006 ARIA Awards and have been inseparable ever since. They are just so cute together - this is great news! Congratulations to them!

We always knew musicians were some of the sexiest guys in Australia, but now it’s official. Cleo have just released their annual Bachelor of the Year finalists list, and it includes plenty of musical eye-candy.

Australian Idol alumni Carl Riseley and Dean Geyer have made the cut, along with Rock Star graduate Toby Rand.

The indie kids are also represented with Evermore’s Peter Hume and DJ Nick Foley also on the list.

I was pretty impressed by the inclusion of thinking woman’s sex symbol Felix Riebl from The Cat Empire.

We all knew those Australian Idol graduates were a talented lot, but did you know they were aspiring authors? Damien Leith and Dean Geyer will both release books in the coming months.

Damien’s novel, One More Time, will hit stores on October 1. It follows Sean, an Irish adventurer trekking through the wilds of Nepal. Part love story, part thriller, it promises to be a captivating read.

Don’t expect anything quite this enthralling from Dean Geyer, who will tell all in the book Up Close. This one’s definitely targeted at Dean’s adoring teen fans, with pull out posters and plenty of exclusive photos. The book also comes with a free downloadable track “Change.” Up Close will be released in November.

Australian Idol graduates proved they’re tops with teens, taking out several major awards at last night’s Dolly Teen Choice Awards in Sydney.

Dean Geyer was named hottest music act, a title that may have as much to do with his looks as his talent. Last year’s third-place getter was thrilled to attend the awards show with his lady love, Lisa Origliasso of The Veronicas.

“This is the first awards night we’ve been to as a couple - it’s awesome,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

Guy Sebastian’s Close to The Sun was named most popular album, and Anthony Callea’s “Addicted To You” was the most downloaded ringtone. No, I can’t believe there’s an award for that either.

Ramsey Street is looking set to become Australia’s music capital. Yesterday we heard that Dean Geyer will join the cast of Neighbours. Now it seems that several high profile Australian acts will also appear on the soapie in coming months.

Taking their inspiration from American comedy Ally McBeal, Neighbours will transform its revamped bar Charlie’s into a live-music venue. Dean’s Australian Idol rival, Damien Leith, his Australian Idol judge Marcia Hines (are we noticing a theme?), Robyn Loau, Amy Pearson, and Human Nature are all scheduled to appear in the coming months.

All this buzz about music seems to have rubbed off on Neighbours starlet Caitlin Stasey. The young actress, who plays Rachel Kinski, hopes to launch her own singing career.

Hey, it worked for Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia, and Delta Goodrem. However, for every superstar Neighbours produces, there’s always a Holly Valance or Stephanie McIntosh.

Caitlin told The Sunday Telegraph, “I’d love to do something along the lines of Joni Mitchell, or I’d love to be in a band like a No Doubt thing.”

That’s some combination! However, before we dismiss young Caitlin’s dreams as the aspirations of just another soapie star, consider this. She actually writes her own music and plays the guitar. That’s got to put her ahead of the game.

Former Neighbours star and Rogue Traders frontwoman Natalie Bassingthwaighte has returned to her acting roots with a role that’s sure to please her legions of male fans. Nat plays a doctor with lesbian tendencies in a new indie horror film, Prey.

However, word is that a particularly pervy scene, where she showers while her female costar watches, may end up on the cutting room floor.

“I hope not!” she told The Herald Sun at the Neighbours relaunch party.

I’m sure most men around the world are crossing their fingers right along with her.
