Kylie Minogue’s Tattooed Toy Boy

April 19, 2009 by lkatulka

I’m not exactly sure when’s the appropriate time in a relationship to tattoo your lover’s name on your body, but something tells me Andres Velenscosco Segura’s moving too fast.

Kylie Minogue’s Spanish beau is so besotted that he’s been branded with her name. It seems like a pretty big leap to take for someone you’ve only dated since last October.

“Andres knows how insecure the ten-year age gap makes her feel and this gesture has really boosted her happiness,” a source told The Sun newspaper.

Apparently the tattoo is especially meaningful for Kylie because Andres’ only other is his mother’s name Lucia.

Call me a cynic, but something tells me Andres’ is going to regret that grandiose gesture of love in a couple of years!

It’s no secret that devout Christian Dean Geyer has been saving himself until marriage. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one thinking about what he’ll get up to on the night of his wedding to Veronicas’ hottie Lisa Origliasso!

But Lisa insists she’s not getting married just to get busy!

“We’re not rushing down the aisle - once people find out that we’re not getting married next week, just so whatever we want to happen can happen, they’ll realise we’re happy with this stage,” she told OK! magazine.

“It wasn’t a big deal for me [to wait], I love him for him.”

Awww that’s so sweet!

Sophie and Benji Split, Tim and Ant Hook Up

February 13, 2008 by lkatulka

Today’s news is all about make-ups and break-ups. On one hand we’ve got word that Sophie Monk has split with her Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden.

Now we saw this one coming for a while, ever since Sophie returned to Australia solo in January. The Daily Telegraph later spotted her without her engagement ring, which started more rumours buzzing.

Sophie’s agent Yoon Kim put an end to the speculation today, issuing an official statement claiming “The decision was mutual and they remain amicable.” I guess it’s pretty easy to remain amicable when you’re on opposite sides of the world, right?

But things are happier for Tim Campbell and Anthony Callea, who’ve just admitted they’re together. The pair became close when they worked on a Perth production of Rent last year. They had both recently separated from their partners, and cried on each other’s shoulders.

“There was stuff written in the paper a while ago … and actually Anthony and I are a bit of an item at the moment,” Tim told Vega FM yesterday.

“The question was asked a while ago and we weren’t, but we have gotten to a point where we are very happy together.”

And it’s just in time for Valentine’s Day too! It’s too bad about Sophie and Benji, but at least some of our Aussie stars will have a loved-up day tomorrow!

“Skin” - Katie Noonan

August 16, 2007 by lkatulka

Katie Noonan’s solo release, Skin, has taken up permanent residence in my stereo. The voice behind supergroup George has produced an album of Skin cover, Source: Warner Musicinfectious joy that gets richer with every listen.

It’s been five years since George released their landmark album, Polyserena. A lot has changed for Katie Noonan in that time. Many performers seem to lose their passion once spouses and children enter the picture, but the opposite seems true here. It’s allowed Katie to create songs that are intensely personal, but instantly accessible.

Love is the dominant theme underpinning all the album’s tracks. Not the clichéd love we’ve all heard about a thousand times before, but an emotion that’s deeply personal. Even when romantic love is explored, as in “Logic,” “Love’s My Song For You,” and “Home,” it’s approached with individuality and honesty.

But Katie knows there’s more than romantic love in this world, and Skin examines that too. “Little Boy Man” is a tender expression of love for her son, while the jazzy single “Time To Begin” celebrates love of self.
